The Missing

Lift up your eyes on high and see: Who created these? He who brings out their host and numbers them, calling them all by name; because he is great in strength, mighty in power, not one is missing. Isaiah 40:26

What is "The Missing"?
The intent of The Missing is to serve individuals by uncovering God's Call on the lives of young adults. Guided by Isaiah 40:26, The Missing Young Adult Ministry of the TX-LA Gulf Coast Synod strives encounter young adults where they are, as they are. This will happen by uncovering where faith and life intersect on a daily basis, in a tangible way. The Missing focuses on community building, spirituality, living lives as acts of worship, service and vocational discernment for young adults between the ages of 18-25 who are experiencing the various stages of life.

How does "The Missing" work?
Communications - In order to create an extended network within the young adult population from this synod, multiple methods of communication are needed. This happens using mailings, email, newsletters and the internet.

Vocational Discernment Retreat - This ministry will sponsor two weekend long, vocational discernment retreats, at minimal cost to participants. These events will include trained leaders who have the gifts of discernment and wisdom to serve as spiritual guides for participants. Participants will also share their gifts and experiences with each other.

Immersion Experience - Young adults are overwhelmingly interested in social justice, service and advocacy. The Missing hopes to provide a point of engagement for this population to gain servant leadership skills along with experiencing life among those who are overlooked. Trips to La Frontera (the border ministries of the ELCA), Cristo Rey Ministries in El Paso, Texas and Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota will aid The Missing in developing socially conscious individuals who live out their call to "do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with God."(Micah 6:8)

Leadership Team - The Missing is a piece of the effort of the Partnership for Youth & Family Ministry in creating a culture which nurtures active, vital living faith in every child, youth, young adult and adult. For more information contact

MORE INFO
Our Vision:
Being agents of change in the world, by living and loving the Jesus way.

Our Values:
Jesus calls us to change the world

We all have something to offer

We encounter God in prayer

It's not about us

Every aspect of our lives belongs to God

I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God--what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Romans 12:1-2
